Music Therapy Study

Namaste yogis,

Mercury in Retrograde is OFFICIALLY OVER! Cue the applause and celebratory dances! Well done for making it through some really tough stuff recently, give your self a hug!

Now that things are starting to warm up, and we are edging closer to spring time, I hope that there is more of a spring in your step too and that you’re feeling calmer and more inspired.

Speaking of inspiration and getting things going…

I’m going to be running a series of studies to collect data for my degree. This research will be looking at the effects of music and meditation, and how it can support our physical and mental health and wellbeing.

We all know how good we feel after a good nights sleep and how important sleep is for our health. I am currently running a 14 day study which will be looking at the effects of music and meditations on sleep quality.

If you feel you might be able to help by listening to some tracks as you sleep, and filling out some surveys along the way, please click here.

In the mean time, I’ve still got a few pairs of earrings left and new yoga mats are to be uploaded onto the site this week. Head to my SHOP HERE.

Thanks all, can’t wait to see you and give you hugs!

A Huge Cloud of Hazey Chuckery and Cluster-Chuck Madness

Yep, that’s what this week has been like for many of us.

I’m going to attempt to shed some light on the CHit that we’ve been feeling this week. Likely stating the obvious but hopefully touching on some points that you may have not considered but resonate with.

I must add, if you see the words: Chuck, Chucking, Duck, Pluck, just go ahead and put a fatt-off ‘F‘ in replacement of the first one or two consonants.

Here goes…

Last week, The UK went into lock down, and because it was new, we decided to do what we could stay positive… and maybe numb it a bit (no shame – gin is also running low in my household too).

Many found themselves working at 500x the speed or slowed down their paces completely to enjoy some of the finer things in life…lunch time wine anyone?

For many who are able to still work, their daily tasks have been more than tripled due to picking up other colleagues work. On the other hand those who aren’t able to work have been left thinking ‘omg wtf…how so I do this? I need my routine!’

This week however, it’s a totally different ball game. Reason 1) there is no ball… and reason 2) there is no game. Reality has sunk right in and we’re being asked to stay put, though all we want to do is run away or fight. Our bodies are taking on a tremendous amount of strain (regardless of the consumption of chocolate, pasta, bread and [Seedlip] Gin).

This week, Aries has ruled the sun (ooooh ‘ere we go!!!) and this means that the sun has been pretty happy, pretty encouraging and darn right LUSH. This affects us in different ways because on one hand, we are feeling motivated to push through and get on top of things, be super brave and assertive, but on the other hand (you knew there was a BUT coming) Mercury has just moved out of Pisces.

Wait Tilly, you’re going too fast!!! Let me back track a little…

Throughout March, Mercury (ruler of communication) was in Pisces (hypersensitive to subtle changes in the atmosphere). We should have been more attuned to our emotions because these two bad boys are a CHUCKING good combo for us to ‘let loose and get that CHit out. Over March, the level of uncertainty of what was going on consumed us and we were obsessed with what was happening over the world, instead of checking in with numero Uno, ourselves. We have been so absorbed with making sure we are safe to be with loved ones or hiding ourselves away as an act of love to protect one another. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!

No WONDER we are feeling a total CLUSTER-CHUCK-VOMCANO of emotion right now! One week is just a taster. Even if we are living with loved ones, we are afraid to cuddle or even to sit near one another. We desperately want to see other people, offer and receive love face to face, but our way of communicating love (or anything right now) has been flipped on its head. Absolute chuckery.

One thing that has remained the same is arguing. It’s easy to fight, to argue and to disagree because that doesn’t involve embracing one another. Coming out of an argument is more challenging because we’re less inclined to ‘hug it out’ after.

All of this BS is alien to us.

Regardless of the moon, the sun, the planets (and yeah…I do use these as an excuse when I’m mad but it’s usually cos I’m hungry or hormonal…or both…) we are being challenged in the way we communicate naturally. Even for introverts, this amount of isolation and lack of human contact is tormenting.

What you are feeling right now is REAL. Yes, you are not alone and that does help but it doesn’t stop you feeling the way that you do.

One of the most comforting but annoying things about this whole situation is that everyone is in the same boat right now. This is affecting each and every one of us. We are together – why does that not seem enough to ease the pressure? I tell you why, because we are in a situation that we can not control anything. We cannot run from it and we cannot fight it. We must wait and…do nothing.

But, we don’t have to do nothing. What we CAN do is:

  • Offer virtual hugs
  • Be honest to our selves and honour our feels
  • Write a journal
  • Send gratitude to at least one person or for one thing a day
  • Send (disinfected) postcards
  • Call our loved ones more often
  • Get out once a day – even if it’s just your patio or back garden.
  • Smile at your neighbour/s
  • Offer a helping hand where possible (obviously wear gloves)
  • Watch a funny movie (I highly reccomend ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ 1&2)
  • Do some Yoga
  • Have a massive cry when you need it
  • Drink water, eat fruit (might sound boring and the wine might be more attractive but these will help alongside that too).
  • Rome wasn’t built in a day. Don’t be so hard on your self, simplify your expectations or To-Do List.
  • Blame the moon even if you don’t have a flying CHuck what it’s doing.

I hope this is enough for now…

I love you guys <3 Stay safe, stay home and remember, YOU ARE OM-AZING

The New Year of 2022

OM-portant Update!!!

Allow me to share my gratitude with everyone for continuing classes with me and for trying out new ones too. Zumba and Aqua have been so much fun and I know many of you see me in a different light (lol). Thank you for your energy and commitment to your self (even if twerking is still terrifying for some of you! Muhaha!).

Anyhow, I have some OM-portant updates coming into play for the New Year.

YWT is ever evolving and, since the pandemic most specifically (and getting my degree), I have worked hard to accommodate everyone to make my classes as available as possible. The membership scheme seemed to have worked really well for the majority of you.

I am scrapping the Flexi-Cards and offering instead, PAYG Classes or Monthly DD Memberships.

YWT will be running more classes a week which means you will get a great variety to choose from and in different locations that have easy access to free parking.

Class Types are: Yin, Hatha, Zumba, Pilates, Prenatal, Cardioga (HIIT), Nidra and Sound Meditations.

Class Prices and Memberships

PAYG will still stand at £10 a class (in person) and £7.50 (zoom).

OM-line only Memberships

& Lockdown contingency

These memberships are available now, however if the UK enters into another national lockdown, any current memberships will be put on hold or transferred to online only.

The studio classes will be moved to online so the timetable does not change.

The changes will start from 3rd Jan 2022. Anyone with classes remaining on their Flexi-Cards can use them until they run out – alternatively if you’d like to use them as credit towards treatments or products please let me know.

I am hopeful that this format will work best for us long-term.

Thanking all of you again for attending classes & workshops, treatments and purchasing my products – it means the world.

If you have any questions – please send me a message HERE or leave a reply at the end of this page 🙂

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – Nama-santa-Sleigh xxx

Cacao, Yoga and Sound Healing

Saturday 25th Sep, 10:30-1:30pm, Sacred Space Yoga

£30pp or bring a friend for £50

Event Information

Welcoming autumn and saying goodbye to summer. This ceremony is for us to give thanks to the summer season, and have gratitude for all that it brought for us this year.

So what is a cacao? Well, in addition to being packed full of vitamins and minerals, cacao increases blood flow to the brain which helps to strengthen awareness and focus. It helps the body to heal, detoxify and to give your immune system a good boost.

What is a cacao Ceremony? The ceremony is one for us to connect with ourselves and open our hearts in a safe and nursing environment. It also allows us to heal with a deep focus on re-rooting and re-balance the energies within us.

We’ll have a ceremony, then a gentle yoga flow and a sound bath to close.

Location: Sacred Space Yoga, Swiss Road, Weston Super Mare (close to the big Tesco off locking road).

Welcome Sidonie Howlett

Sidonie has had a lifelong fascination with the tribal people of South and Central America, and will be leading the sacred cacao ceremony for us.

After gaining a degree in social sciences, Sidonie set on her path to study for a Masters in Latin American Anthropology.

Living in the rainforest for three years alongside the indigenous people of South and Central America, after deciding to travel and discover new cultures, Sidonie developed an interest in plant medicines. One medicine that Sidonie is now a qualified practitioner of is Kambo, which is used to balance and restore spiritual, physical and emotional wellbeing.

Sidonie has a wealth of knowledge on natural healing so we are in for a treat and I cannot wait to experience her cacao ceremony with you.

Find out more about Sidonie by visiting her website (website still loading).

Yin Yoga Thursdays

Hey all,

I am trialing a new class on Thursdays at 7:15pm, the class is Yin Yoga. Scroll down for more info on where and how to book.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues.

The poses are held for up to five minutes and some of the many benefits of Yin Yoga are:
– Calms and balances the mind and body.
– Reduces stress and anxiety.
– Increases circulation.
– Improves flexibility.
– Releases fascia and improves joint mobility.
– Balances the internal organs and improves the flow of chi or prana (life force energy).

Yoga By Nature Day Retreat

A restorative day of yoga and sound healing. Brought to you by Morven from Yoga by Nature, and a little bit of me.

An overview of the workshop

Renew, Reflect, Regroup

Move, meditate and be soothed by the healing sounds of singing bowls. This is a long awaited day where we can finally gather together on retreat – a day of rest and self-care.

I will be accompanying Morven meditative, musical magic with singing bowls, whilst she holds the space for a restorative session, and then will also lead a sound meditation towards the end of the day.

Sound healing is a profound and beautiful way to enter into the meditative state. Cocooned in the vibration of the singing bowls, you can reach deeper states of consciousness and open to healing on a body and soul level.

The theme of Morven’s Yoga Day this year is “Homecoming”. A whole day of yoga and meditation to help you to come back to yourself.

There is so much for all of us to process in this hugely complex time in which we live. A retreat day is an opportunity for you to let go of all the bundles that you carry around with you and take time to heal and rest so you can be stronger when you go back out into the world. In the yoga space, there are no to-do lists, no roles to fulfil, no responsibilities and no news. It is a space designated for being and becoming. Being is a state that is in opposition to doing.

The day start with two hours of dynamic flow yoga practice to bring us fully into the body. There will be time for meditation, intention setting and personal reflection.

After lunch, there will be Yoga Nidra – a long, relaxing, guided practice which takes you into a trance-like state of deep but alert relaxation (or you might just fall asleep!).

Following Yoga Nidra, there will be a long relaxing restorative yoga practice with sound healing. The postures will be slow, supported with bolsters and blankets and designed for deep physical and emotional release. We will explore the body in relationship to breath and gravity, remove all remaining blocks to relaxation and journey into deep deep rest.

This day, held in cosy Victory Hall in Uphill, is a celebration of who you are, with practices that support a transformation towards conscious, joyful living in an uncertain world. No matter how stuck we think we are, there is always the possibility for transformation. This day is not a day for resolutions but for a revolution – a transformation into wholeness.

There will be afternoon refreshments – Pukka teas and delicious organic treats.

Workshop Date: 29th Aug 2021

Location: Victory Hall, Uphill, WSM BS23 4XN

July Update

Hey Yogis,

Wow, how are you? What a very eventful month this is turning out to be!

I want to extend my gratitude firstly to all who have been attending classes in studios, and also the OMcredible repose I’ve had to my Swedish massage and singing bowl therapy.

Going ahead, I’ve got my eye on some pregnancy massage training, reflexology and deep tissue massage. Watch this space!

Some of you may have noticed that the Flexi passes have now changed as well as the timetable. Moving forward, I will not be running any regular Zoom classes. If there is a demand for a specific time and class, I will look into putting one back onto the timetable.

Your Flexi passes that you can now get are set into 5, 10 or 20 class passes and by using these, there will be no extra payment to make it up to the single class price (£10).

As before, if you purchased a Flexi pass of 10 for £60, you’d pay £4 on top per studio booking.

Click here for prices and memberships.

As restrictions on class size eases, I will be gradually increasing numbers in my public classes. Currently, the Campus can hold 6 of us + Me and from Monday 19th July, this will move to 8 max.

I really hope to hold more classes for you in the near future. Right now, the classes are too quiet to run any extra.

I hope I can also run some ZUMBA and Pilates Fusion classes soon, just trying to get the right time for everyone so it works on a permanent basis.

With your help, we can get more OMness in our lives!!!

Talking of OMness, you can now FEEL OMazing as well as BE OMazing when you book a Swedish Massage with singing bowl therapy session. Find out more by clicking HERE.

Again, thank you for your support and also understanding whilst we get back to a sense of normality. I appreciate that there have been a lot of changes to classes recently.

Right now, you can book Hatha Flow on Mondays, 7pm at The Campus 🙂 BOOK HERE

Lots of love,

Tilly xxx

Spring Equinox Yoga with Essential Oils

Hey Yogis,

We are starting to notice the blossom and tulips emerge with birdsong that wakes us in the morning and settles us at night.

OMG it’s SO LUSH! I literally cannot even!

It’s such a beautiful time of year where nature starts to come back to life, colours start to pop and we all start to feel a lot lighter and excited for the sun and warmer, longer days.

I’m running a weekend event on the 19th and 20th of March to celebrate the seasons change and set our intentions for the next.

Included in this event are two classes, yin and vinyasa, and essential oils which will be posted to you.

Essential oils are so incredible to use both in and off your mat. What’s amazing about using them during yoga, just like when I spritz my essential oils for you when you come to my classes, you get pulled directly into the present moment. It gives an element to yoga that is so powerful!

So, if you’re keen to practice yoga with your own essential oils, and learn how to use them for your personal practice, join my event by clicking on the button bellow. It would be so lush to see you 💖

I hope you can make it!

Love from Tilly xxx

P.s. if you can’t make the class for whatever reason, there will be a recording available. Please book with enough time to receive your essential oils in the post.

The Crafty Yogi

Dear Yogis,

Some of you may have seen some of my recent posts about the jewellery that I have been making.

Whilst unable to exercise throughout my recovery from surgery I took up a new hobby, making earrings and other crafty things. Originally, this hobby was to make gifts for Christmas and Birthdays etc and take time between Uni lectures, but I made so many that good ol’ Mama Bobby said I should sell ’em!

After further encouragement from friends and extended family members, here we are, ready to launch!

I present to you The Crafty Yogi on my shop! The earrings that are up on the site now can be browsed but I am not accepting orders until the 1st of February which is when I officially launch the collection.

Here’s a little sneak peak:
